The Small Engine and Equipment Repair program provides the opportunity for acquiring entry-level skills in the service and repair of a wide variety of small engines as well as a working knowledge of the repair and adjustment of related equipment, and basic skills in sharpening a variety of household and industrial cutting tools and blades.
General Entrance Requirements
The student should be able to follow instructions and be able to read repair manuals and specification charts. It is important to have good manual and finger dexterity in at least one hand. Some lifting is required.
Instructional Equipment
Instructional equipment includes, but is not limited to, bench grinder, coil condenser tester, blade and engine monitor, engine lathe, arbor press, cylinder hone, computers, and valve seal cutting machines.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates of this program may find entry-level employment in hardware stores, department stores, lumber yards, manufacturing firms, and in shops which sell and service any device powered by a single-cylinder engine. Self-employment is also an option.
