Certificates/Less-than-4-year Certificates in Licensed Practical + Vocational Nurse Training (LPN, LVN, Cert, Dipl, AAS): A program that prepares individuals to assist in providing general nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse, physician or dentist. Includes instruction in taking patient vital signs, applying sterile dressings, patient health education and assistance with examinations and treatment.
The three-semester Vocational Nursing curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses. This is the examination required by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians. Students must be admitted to the nursing program before enrolling in vocational nursing courses. Information about the admissions process is available in the Health Sciences office.
