Fairfield University's Master of Arts in American Studies focuses on the cultural and intellectual life of the United States and is dedicated to providing a comprehensive and critical understanding of the American experience. An interdisciplinary course of study, the program draws upon the expertise of full-time faculty members representing 9 departments and programs, including:

  • Women's Studies
  • Visual and Performing Arts

    The M.A. in American Studies consists of 3 core courses that provide a general introduction to the method and matter of American Studies, and then an individualzed course of study developed with a faculty mentor which best meets your intellectual and career goals. The built-in flexibility of the curriculum allows you to specialize in a particular area or pursue a more generalized view of the American experience. To complete the degree, you'll select a topic of interest for your capstone independent project.
