Computational Chemistry Materials Science has been identified by the Department
of Defense and the Air Force as a critical technology area that is vital to our
national defense. This educational track supports further development of this
important research area and is organized primarily for students with a degree
in physics, chemistry, or materials science, and a strong background in the use
of computers and computational methods. Emphasis is placed on developing basic
physical principles together with current state of the art computational techniques,
which taken together will enable the student to take full advantage of Department
of Defense computational resources including the Major Shared Resource Center.
This track satisfies the Air Force educational codes 8HCX, Atomic and Molecular
Physics, and 8CHX, Physical Chemistry.
