The M.A. (Theology the Arts) is designed to integrate the arts into the study,
expression, celebration and transmission of the Christian faith. Broadly inclusive
of many forms of artistic expression, it is intended for the enhancement of existing
ministries or the exploration of emerging forms of ministry in communities of
faith. It is also intended for practicing artists, preachers, worship planners,
pastoral care givers, religious educators and others seeking to augment their
professional preparation with a theologically coherent vision of the arts the
life of the church. The program is not intended to offer professional training
for practicing artists in their chosen medium or form; however, opportunities
for non-professional artists and persons without developed skills to practice
the arts the context of faith are provided.
The goals of this degree include:
* Enhancing existing ministries with a theoretical and practical grasp of
the arts and their relation to the expression and celebration of the Christian
faith
* Deepening theological and spiritual dimensions of creative endeavors in which
practicing artists are engaged
* Fostering ministries that renew faith and transform communities through the
arts.
