The MS degree program in biostatistics Theory and Methods Track (MS/TM) is designed to prepare individuals for a career applying statistical methods in the biomedical sciences. The MS/TM is the appropriate program for a student whose goal is to work effectively as a biostatistician in a biomedical, clinical, or laboratory research setting; or for a student who plans to pursue a doctorate in biostatistics. Candidates for admission may come from health and non-health-related fields. Applicants must present evidence of adequate preparation in quantitative skills. Upon entering the program MS/TM students should have some background in college mathematics, including at least one year of calculus and some linear algebra. Students with strong scores on the quantitative section of the Graduate Record Examination are given first preference. The most important ingredients for the MS/TM and all our programs are a facility for quantitative reasoning and a true enjoyment in working with data.
