Art Center's graduate program in Broadcast Cinema is focused on the creation of pilot programs for existing and future forms of broadcast. A compelling concept, created with a unique perspective and delivered with clarity, can inspire audiences around the world. The study of traditional industry production processes and creative expectations can often confuse and delay the single most important aspect of a progressive filmmaking education--an individual creative identity. In our program, the development of your creative identity is our priority.
The Broadcast Cinema program attracts students who have diverse filmmaking skills as well as some who are new to the discipline. At Art Center, there are no boundaries between disciplines. Collaborations between students and faculty from all of our departments allow ideas to flourish, providing an unparalleled creative environment for filmmakers.
The Broadcast Cinema program is free of creative controls, allowing you to invent new forms of programming and methods of storytelling. Mentors will guide and assist in the design, development, and production of each project. Some students will qualify to create and direct public service works for real clients. Graduates of our department are prepared to be at the forefront of contemporary filmmaking, be it commercial or artistic.
