Bob Jones University Masters degree Church Music
The Church Music degree emphasizes advanced study in voice, piano, organ, one of the standard orchestral instruments, choral conducting, or composition and its application in the ministries of the local church. Specialized study of hymnology and children’s choirs is supplemented with continued study of music history, theory, choral conducting, and composition.
Although its primary focus is the preparation of men for the music pastorate, the program also welcomes women who anticipate supportive ministries such as music coordinator, accompanist, youth/children's choir director, etc., in the local church. Music instruction is offered without additional cost above the regular tuition.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the BJU church music program are serving local churches across the United States as assistant pastors and music directors. Some serve as both a church music director and music teacher in a Christian school. Several serve the Lord in foreign countries as they assist missionaries with a music ministry. Young ladies, some as wives of laymen or of pastors, provide invaluable assistance to local ministries as church pianists, organists, children's choir directors, and music coordinators.
