Bard College Masters degree Dual MAT/CEP Program
Dual MAT/CEP Program:
In partnership with the Bard Center for Environmental Policy (CEP), students may apply for a two-year dual-degree program (master of science in environmental policy and master of arts in teaching).
Applicants must apply to, and be accepted by, both the CEP and the MAT Programs. Although applications may be made simultaneously, decisions are made independently by each graduate program.
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program at Bard College is a one-year intensive program leading to an M.A.T. degree and New York State certification to teach English, math, biology, or history. Students accepted into both programs first complete the first-year BCEP curriculum, which qualifies them to earn a professional certificate in environmental policy, then enroll in the MAT Program for a second year. The BCEP Thesis requirement is fulfilled through the student's final MAT research project, which is advised by faculty from both programs. The BCEP internship requirement is satisfied through the MAT Program's classroom experience component. The other BCEP second-year course requirements are waived. Students must apply separately to both programs.
