The Liberal Studies M.A. Program in Jewish Studies is offered under the auspices of the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies, which brings together faculty and students whose academic interests, divided among several disciplines and departments, are primarily concerned with the study of Jewish civilization or with the state of Israel in its historical and contemporary dimensions. The Institute encourages research and publication in all branches of Jewish history, culture and institutions in Hebrew, Yiddish and other Jewish languages and literatures, and in the history of Jewish philosophy and religion. The Liberal Studies M.A. Program in Jewish Studies is designed for those who are interested in serious study in the fields of Judaica for their own personal or professional enrichment. The program concludes with a substantial paper that brings synthesized perspectives from two (or more) disciplines to bear on a limited topic within the student’s area of concentration.
