This program prepares leaders for a wide range of positions in schools and early childhood settings, both public and independent. Candidates come from throughout the tri-state area and beyond. We offer both a 39-credit program leading to a master of science in education, or, for those who already have a prior master's degree in education, a 30- to 36-credit program leading to the advanced master of education degree.
Coursework covers all aspects of leadership with an emphasis on understanding the complexities and dynamics of transformational educational change. Learn to build consensus among your faculty, engage parents and community members, and create a shared vision for your school. Learn about current realities and emerging trends in the areas of administration, policy, research and supervision.
The program addresses the practical and theoretical foundations of educational leadership, including adult development, organizational systems, modes of supervision, professional development and teambuilding. Candidates explore the socio-political realities of the work of schools, the ethical and moral dimensions of leadership, the role of leader as researcher, and the practices of school administration.
