The Manufacturing Engineering program is designed to educate professionals who will design, build, operate, and control world class manufacturing systems with enhanced productivity and competitiveness. The 33-hour program is structured with five interrelated areas: design, materials, processes, systems, and automation and integration. A student must take at least 3 hours in advanced mathematics, one course from each of the five areas, and a minimum of 6 hours in non-manufacturing courses. Either a 6-hour thesis or a 3-hour project is required. Admission is open to holders of undergraduate degrees engineering or science. Applicants without appropriate backgrounds in processes, materials, mathematics, mechanics, computer science, and manufacturing systems may be admitted conditionally and required to take appropriate preparatory courses to gain unconditional admission to the program.
