The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree program is an avenue of entry into the teaching profession through graduate study for those persons who wish to teach:

Art Education (PK-12)
Music Education (PK-12)
Secondary Social Studies (9-12)
Secondary English (9-12)
Secondary Math (9-12)
Secondary Science (9-12)


Students in this program must earn a baccalaureate degree in the content area of teaching specialization and then enroll in the masters program which begins every June. This is a five-semester, 36-hour cohort program of study and includes both advanced content study at the graduate level and teaching pedagogy instruction. Senior students at Coastal Carolina University may take up to two courses during their senior year that can apply toward meeting MAT program requirements.
