The Master of Arts in Spanish program at Arkansas Tech has been designed to offer students solid foundations in Spanish language, as well as Spanish Spanish-American society, culture, and literature.
Non-Thesis Option
The student seeking the Master of Arts degree Spanish under the Non-Thesis Option must complete the following:
1. A minimum of 30 hours in Spanish at the graduate level (5000-6000) with no more than 9 hours of 5000-level courses considered toward the completion of the degree.
2. The satisfactory completion of the following 18 hours:
SPAN 6003 Introduction to the M.A. in Spanish
SPAN 6023 Literary Theory
SPAN 6063 Spanish American Literature and Culture
SPAN 6163 Spanish Literature and Culture
SPAN 6403 Advanced Spanish Grammar
SPAN 6503 History of the Spanish Language
3. The satisfactory completion of the following 12 hours:
6000-level SPAN seminar on Spanish topic
6000-level SPAN seminar on Spanish-American topic
SPAN Elective (5000-6000 level)
SPAN Elective (5000-6000 level)
4. A cumulative grade point average of 3.00 on all graduate work with no grade
lower than a “C”.
5. The satisfactory completion of a comprehensive examination.
6. The completion of all degree requirements within six years of admission
to the degree program.
