Many individuals entering teaching prefer and thrive in a more traditional classroom setting where it is possible to study theory and pedagogy while preparing to meet the real-life needs of California’s diverse student population. Candidates who enroll in our student teaching pathway to earning a California Preliminary Teaching Credential attend evening classes, choosing a part-time or full-time course load.
After successfully completing all state-mandated examinations and at least 12 units of coursework, you may enter student teaching.
Upon completion of coursework, student teaching, and other mandated requirements, you are ready to enter the classroom as a preliminary credentialed teacher-of-record with full salary and benefits.
