|
The World Percussion (MFA) graduate program is designed for experienced percussionists with appropriate backgrounds who intend to expand their mastery of percussion media from around the globe. Students spend two semesters studying a combination of styles drawn from the variety of percussion studies offered at the school, including African, Balinese, Javanese, North Indian, Persian, Latin, Western, jazz and other traditions. This is followed by another two semesters in which they concentrate on in-depth studies in one of the major areas of world percussion. Candidates for the MFA degree are required to demonstrate their performing skills in recitals and, depending on the specific nature of their work, complete a supplemental thesis.
