Masters degrees in Biostatistics: A program that focuses on the application of descriptive and inferential statistics to biomedical research and clinical, public health, and industrial issues related to human populations. Includes instruction in mathematical statistics, modeling, clinical trials methodology, disease and survival analysis, longitudinal analysis, missing data analysis, spatial analysis, computer tomography, biostatistics consulting, and applications to such topics as genetics, oncology, pharmacokinetics, physiology, neurobiology, and biophysics.
The MA program is intended primarily for the student with the equivalent of a B.A. who wishes to pursue advanced study in the theory and methods of biostatistics.
To earn the MA degree, students are expected to complete 32 credit hours with grades of at least B- in every course. Coursework must include the following six biostatistics core courses (24 credits):
-SPH EP 712 Epidemiologic Methods
-CAS MA 684 Multivariate Analysis OR SPH BS 805 Intermediate...
Demand for advanced expertise in biostatistics continues to be high in both the public and private sectors, particularly in settings emphasizing research in biomedicine and biotechnology. The masters programs in Biostatistics provide advanced training in the theory and application of statistical methods in public health, clinical medicine, and the biological sciences. Both degree programs require up to 8 courses; the Sc.M. requires a thesis. The program...
The Mailman School of Public Health of Columbia University offers the degree of Master of Science in Biostatistics, with an emphasis on issues in the statistical analysis and design of clinical studies. The Clinical Research Methods track was conceived and designed for clinicians who are pursuing research careers in academic medicine.
The purpose of the Master of Science/ Clinical Research Methods (MS/CRM) degree program is to provide formal,...
The MS degree program in biostatistics Theory and Methods Track (MS/TM) is designed to prepare individuals for a career applying statistical methods in the biomedical sciences. The MS/TM is the appropriate program for a student whose goal is to work effectively as a biostatistician in a biomedical, clinical, or laboratory research setting; or for a student who plans to pursue a doctorate in biostatistics. Candidates for admission may come from health...
The departments of Mathematics & Computer Science and Biostatistics offer a M.S. in Computer Science with a Biostatistics concentration. The program is suited to individuals with an undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline, e.g., mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a natural, physical or social sciences subject. Those obtaining the degree will be exceptionally well-prepared for next-generation careers in industry, government, or...
Almost all public health studies need biostatistical operations for analysis of the data. The MPH program in Biostatistics will rigorously train students in theoretical concepts as well as application of statistical methods in the field public health.
Biostatistics involves the theory and application of statistical science to analyze public health problems and to further biomedical research.
The faculty includes leaders in the development of statistical methods for clinical trials and observational studies, studies on the environment, and genomics/genetics. The department's research in statistical methods and interdisciplinary collaborations provide many opportunities for student participation.
