Masters degrees in Pastoral Studies + Counseling: A program that focuses on the theory and principles of pastoral care and prepares ordained clergy to provide non-clinical pastoral counseling to individuals and groups. Includes instruction in pastoral leadership, counseling psychology; crisis intervention; individual and group procedures; theological and spiritual counseling; pastoral care; and applications to specific types of ministry.
Designed to prepare students as counselors within school settings, K-12, for the purpose of promoting and enhancing the learning process within the context of academic development, career development, and personal/social development.
Curriculum content is based on the requirements set forth by the National Board for Certified Counselors and the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board. The program is also accredited by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.

Students will explore the foundational issues affecting counseling, particularly as it impacts pastoral counseling and spiritual direction in a multicultural environment. While learning the basics of pastoral counseling, one of the outcomes of this program is a clear understanding of when and to whom referrals must be made in the context of everyday lay ministry.
