The Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) program serves college graduates from fields other than education who have the capability and commitment to prepare for a successful career in classroom teaching. After successful completion of this program, you may be licensed at the Master‘s level to teach in public and private schools of Tennessee.
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program is designed to provide initial teaching licensure at the following levels, Early Childhood (PreK-3), Elementary (K-6), Middle School (4-8), Secondary (7-12), Visual Arts (K-12), and Special Education.
