Program Description
The Program in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (CBB) is a graduate training program offered within the Institute of Genome Sciences and Policy. The goal of the CBB graduate program is to provide in-depth training in computer science, statistics and mathematics and a broad appreciation of the principles underlying contemporary biology. CBB seeks students who have an interest and aptitude in the computational and biological sciences. Students are expected to become proficient in one of the core quantitative areas as well as the subdiscipline in biology on which their dissertation is based. The combination of entrance prerequisites, program core courses and a broad variety of elective courses is designed to assure that students have the necessary background to become successful researchers in the field of computational biology. The program also offers students enrolled in the Ph.D. or masters programs of participating departments the opportunity to pursue a certificate in CBB.
