Mission
The college identifies with and responds to the needs of this community and is instrumental in shaping its future. As such, the ongoing mission of Rockland Community College is to: Seek out and encourage all those who wish to learn without regard to ethnic or racial background, color, religion, gender, physical ability, nationality, age, marital status, sexual orientation, economic status, developmental stage, or prior educational achievement. Develop the knowledge, skills and understanding for life, work and responsible citizenship within a diverse and changing world and culture. Foster opportunities for lifelong learning which integrate a person's life, career and educational goals. Provide leadership in Rockland County for academic, economic and creative development and serve as a resource for community services and cultural affairs. Promote the values and purposes of higher education by reaching out actively to diverse populations who might otherwise not have considered attending college, discerning their needs and devising programming to meet those needs.
 
About this School
Rockland Community College is a two-year college in the SUNY system, located in Rockland County, New York. The college began in 1959 in the former county almshouse. The college offers 41 programs in the arts and sciences, technology, and health professions. The current enrollment is about 6300 full and part time students. The main campus is in Suffern, New York, but instruction is also offered in Haverstraw and Spring Valley. Its president is Dr. Cliff L. Wood. The college is also the home of the award winning student newspaper Outlook Student Press.
