History
Shawnee State has come a long way in becoming a university. In 1970, Scioto Community Tech College was formed at the Scioto County Joint Vocational School. Meanwhile, Massie Hall was occupied by Ohio University's Southern branch. In 1975, Ohio University Southern and Scioto Community Tech College merged to become Shawnee State Community College. In 1977, major expansions occured with the construction of the Health and Nursing buildings along with a Massie Hall extension forming the adminstration offices for the university.
