The mission of Southwest Minnesota State University is to provide high quality liberal arts, professional, and technical programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. About this School
Southwest Minnesota State University is a four-year university part of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) located in Marshall, Minnesota. Its athletic teams are called the Mustangs. The school opened in 1967 as Southwest Minnesota State College The school became Southwest State University in 1975 and adopted it current name in 2003. U.S. News and World Report has designated Southwest Minnesota State University as the No. 1 regional public liberal arts college in the Midwest for eight consecutive years. The campus is totally accessible with interconnected buildings that make it a warm 72 degrees, even in the winter.
