About this School
The University of Oregon (UO) is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class (five students) two years later. The school colors are green and yellow, and its mascot is an adapted, specially-designed Donald Duck . In 2005, U.S. News and World Report ranked the school highest in academics among national universities in the state of Oregon. Overall, the school is ranked 115 out of 248 national universities. The University is one of 60 elected members of the Association of American Universities. Former Oregon Attorney General David B. Frohnmayer is the president of the university. UO receives much of its funding from the UO Foundation, an independent not-for-profit organization.
