Why Middle Eastern and South Asian Studies (MESAS)
The Department of Middle Eastern and South Asian Studies (MESAS) offers a wide range of courses on the languages, cultures, history and archaeology of the Middle East and South Asia. MESAS houses five of the sixteen languages taught at Emory University, including Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Persian, and Sanskrit.
A major in Middle Eastern and South Asian Studies combines the study of one or more of the languages of the region with the cultural, literary, historical, archaeological and religious aspects of the area. The Department also offers an undergraduate language minor in Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, or Persian, as well as a minor in Mediterranean Archaeology.
