Bachelor degrees in Biochemistry + Biophysics and Molecular Biology: An integrated, combined program that focuses on the structure, function, and dynamic behavior of the components of biological systems at the submolecular, molecular, and supramolecular levels and their influence on biological activity at the cellular, tissue, organ, and organismic levels. Includes instruction in biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, molecular biology, and research applications and methods appropriate to specific topics.
Two degrees are offered by this interdisciplinary program: the BA in biochemistry molecular biology (BMB) and the MA in biotechnology. The program includes faculty and resources in the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at CAS. It offers an exceptionally broad range of opportunities for coursework and research in the molecular biosciences. The BA in biochemistry molecular biology may be of interest to students as a means of preparing for...
This concentration is designed to provide an understanding of basic principles and concepts of modern biochemistry molecular biology as well as a background for medical school or graduate studies in biochemistry, molecular biology or other medical sciences.
Twenty semester courses in biology, chemistry, mathematicis, and physics, including the following core requirements:
1. Three courses in mathematics, statistics and/or computer science (typically...
The student major has access to a wide range of instruments for course work and research projects under supervision of a faculty that includes teaching specialists in analytical, environmental, inorganic, organic, physical chemistry, and biochemistry. Many students go on to graduate school in chemistry or biochemistry or to careers in medicine, dentistry, health-related fields, and industrial research. Other career choices in recent years have included...
The Biochemistry Cellular and Molecular Biology (BCMB) program recognizes the importance of the interdisciplinary nature of modern biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, chemistry, botany and biology.
BCMB is a popular choice of major for pre-med students because it covers all requirements for the Medical College Admissions Test.
BCMB majors take courses and attend seminars in the chemistry and biological science departments, and gain experience...
The program is designed to prepare students for graduate school or a technical career in biochemistry/molecular biology. The curriculum is drawn from the departments of biology and chemistry, with emphasis on cellular biology, genetics, and biochemistry.
Special attention is given to developing excellent laboratory skills, and Cornell's One-Course-At-A-Time (OCAAT) schedule gives us a great deal of flexibility in how we integrate laboratory and classroom...
This major, jointly sponsored by the chemistry and biology departments, focuses on the rapidly expanding field of DNA research and biochemistry. Majors get directly involved in research projects, either on-campus or at approved off-campus laboratories. Dickinson faculty maintain active research programs in both fields, so students learn up-to-date techniques from active practitioners....
Students interested in biochemistry may complete programs leading to an interdisciplinary major in biochemistry, a chemistry major with an emphasis in biochemistry, or a minor in biochemistry, all of which draw from offerings in the departments of biology and chemistry. Consult the course listings for these departments for further information.
The interdisciplinary major in biochemistry molecular biology investigates biological phenomena at the ...
