Florida Technical College was founded in 1962 to provide post-secondary training in specialized business fields. The main campus in Orland opened in 1962, followed by the Lakeland campus in 1990, and the DeLand campus in 1997. Classes began at the Kissimmee, Pembroke Pines, and Tampa campuses in 2011, and the Cutler Bay campus opened in 2015.

After 35 years of serving Florida’s educational needs, Florida-Technical College has merged with National University College (NUC), which until now had been a sister Institution. In addition, NUC brought two other colleges under its umbrella, The Digital Animation & Visual Effects (DAVE) School in Florida and IBC Institute in Puerto Rico, for a combined total of 28 campuses and 29,000 students in both Puerto Rico and Florida.

Continuing Education


Florida Technical College offers a variety of continuing education programs and courses and provides the right environment for learning with individual student attention, experienced faculty, and career services. Students may enroll in continuing education programs and earn a diploma upon completion, or students may enroll in individual courses to prepare for various certifications and/or learn specific skills.

FTC Continuing Education Programs


LaSalle CompTIA A+ Exam Preparation
Available at: all locations
The CompTIA A+ Exam Preparation course is comprised of both hardware and software. The hardware portion covers PC hardware and peripherals, mobile device hardware, networking and troubleshooting hardware, and network connectivity issues. The software portion covers installing and configuring operating systems including Windows, iOS, Android, Apple OS X, and Linux. It also addresses security, the fundamentals of cloud computing, and operational procedures. The duration of the program is 72 contact hours which lasts 2-8 weeks. The required course is A+ Repair Comprehensive.

LaSalle CompTIA Security+Professional Exam Preparation
Available at: all locations
The CompTIA Security+ Exam Preparation course covers the essential principles of network security and risk management. The duration of this program is 45 contact hours which lasts 1-5 weeks. The required course is Security Professional. LaSalle CompTIA Network+Exam Preparation

The CompTIA Network+ Exam Preparation course covers essential knowledge and skills needed to confidently design, configure, manage, and troubleshoot any wired and wireless network. The duration of this program is 45 contact hours which lasts 1-5 weeks. The required course is Networking Fundamentals. LaSalle Cisco Network Associate (CCNA) Exam Preparation

This certification validates comprehensive network troubleshooting and implementation skills required for job titles such as Network Administrator, Network Engineer, or Network Specialist. The duration of this program is 63 contact hours which lasts 1-7 weeks. The required course is Cisco Network Associate.
