In 2015, Forbes ranked Fort Lauderdale second on its list of “Happiest Cities for Young Professionals.” Factors contributing to the rating included growth opportunities, compensation, benefits, work-life balance, career advancement, and job security. As might be expected, tourism is among the region’s major industries. However, Fort Lauderdale continues to establish itself as one of the fastest-growing markets for global trade and is a leader in South Florida’s emerging “Internet Coast” of more than 6,000 high-tech firms.
