With this degree, students may study learning methods, child development, and child psychology. Becoming a licensed childcare provider to offer childcare services in one’s home typically only requires a high school diploma and a certification process. This can require taking courses in CPR, first aid, and other training certifications that ensures a child will be safe when left with the caregiver. Child care providers looking for employment in childcare centers may be required to take a certain amount of early childhood development courses or earn an associate or bachelor’s degree in order to act as the primary caretaker.
