What letter grade would you give your school on how well it prepares students for a career in the real world?
Based on 3 ReviewsAllegheny has an alumni network that reaches out to recent graduates for careers which I am not extremely thorough with. Allegheny College has two unique academic requirements- it requires students to take a minor in a different category then their major, and it requires every student to take on an independent research project their senior year, similar in nature to a graduate school thesis. As a biology major, I designed an experiment, worked in the laboratory, and wrote the results, which were published to a school publication. I also minored in writing. My senior project experience and my minor were what set me apart from others in my most recent interview and landed me the job.
Strong individual advising program, lots of internship/research opportunities
What letter grade would you give the students/culture at your school?
Based on 3 ReviewsThe school is small, with 2000 students. Most live on campus or very close to campus. The culture is, overall, inviting and friendly.
What letter grade would you give the facilities at your school.
Based on 3 ReviewsThere are only two dining halls on campus, both owned by the same group; the food was okay. There's a volunteer, student-run coffee shop on campus and a few good restaurants in town. Academic buildings and dorms are a mixture of very old buildings and new, environmentally-friendly, recently remodeled buildings. The classrooms were decent and the laboratory spaces were very nice. I was very fond of the gym. The football and soccer fields were a bit of a walk from campus, but were nice quality. There are many nice, picturesque places to study and hang out at on campus, both outdoors and indoors. The Campus Center was a nice resource during the cold winter months- it had many of the necessary student facilities (gift shop, mail, one of the two mentioned dining halls) and many places to study.
Nice. Almost always in the process of being updated.
What overall letter grade would you give the activities/groups at your school?
Based on 3 ReviewsThere are a number of fraternities on campus and many students liked to spend their weekends partying there. I personally participated in an intermural sport and the role playing and gaming club during the weekends, and I loved all the time I spent with these groups.
I don't know. It was pretty active, but typical
