Advisors offered souch advice on next career steps. There were opportunities to network

Tons! Networking galas, vocation tests, and lots of support from the career office.

Rated January 2016
Alumni
Psychology, Class of 2010

All of the above- most Furman students are given the ability to participate in research studies, present that research at conferences, and participate in internships. Internships are best for networking and making connections to jumpstart the job search following graduation. There is not a specific course in preparing for the "real world," how could there be since every job is so different. Instead, Furman prepares students by teaching them how to think analytically, problem solve, and adapt to new environments while building relationships with other students and professors at the same time.

Career services, one one one relationships with professors, great student body

Students and Culture
What letter grade would you give the students/culture at your school?
Based on 7 Reviews

Neuroscience , Class of 2008

Very smart kids that were not necessarily brilliant but were type a, perfectionistc students that worked hard for their grades. Conservative relative to the general u.s. college population.

Alumni
HPE, Class of 1986

At that time very conservative

Rated January 2016
Alumni
Psychology, Class of 2007

Furman is a traditionally conservative formerly Baptist school that has become progressively more liberal and diverse over the years. It's on a beautiful campus and is staff by the most supportive faculty and staff.

You better be a good student or don't enroll

Rated January 2016

Collaborative, open culture with a diverse group of students from all over the country and the world. There was no bullying that I was aware of, and most people were generally friendly and welcoming to new friends.

Everything is state-of-the-art, constantly under renovation. Anything you could possibly want is at your fingertips.

Computer labs and classrooms are state of the art, completely up to date. Dorms and their bathrooms were kept very clean, and for the most part were large enough to live comfortably. Dining hall had great selection of different foods, and was always clean.

Activities and Groups
What overall letter grade would you give the activities/groups at your school?
Based on 7 Reviews
Alumni
Neuroscience , Class of 2008

You cannot call anything most unique (that is like saying "most one-of-a-kind"). A unique activity was cultural life programs (clp).

Rated January 2016
Alumni
Psychology, Class of 2007

I don't know what the latest groups are, but I do remember that Furman offered something for everyone, including unique study abroad opportunities.

Rated January 2016
Alumni
Psychology, Class of 2010

Greek life was probably the most popular, but many students were involved in a variety of other organizations such as DJing for the radio station, or playing in a band, or joining a leadership council.

Mock trial team is good. Not sure what this questions is asking. College is about finding your group. Ultimate Frisbee and just the people on my freshman hall worked well for me
