What letter grade would you give your school on how well it prepares students for a career in the real world?
Based on 3 ReviewsHampshire was less than 10 years old when I graduated over 35 years ago. It has changed a lot since then. The main tools it provided me were (a) an appreciation for the variety of ways different disciplines view the world (b) encouragement to be curious about everything (c) a love of learning and (d) specific areas of expertise. BTW, when I went there, Hampshire didn't give grades. Part of this was rebellion, but later in life I've come to appreciate how often I run into situations where "it isn't that simple" is true. So, while I object to the next question, I know it is required. I'm giving Hampshire an A, although it isn't that simple.
my school encouraged independent learning which has enabled me to move fields and learn quickly.
A good liberal arts education
What letter grade would you give the students/culture at your school?
Based on 3 ReviewsThey tended to be affluent, privileged kids with little experience with the darker parts of society and the world. Think back to the '70s. Hampshire was a place of energy. Hampshire was a place of radical liberalism. Save the whales. Take over the administration offices to protest against investment in South Africa.
What letter grade would you give the facilities at your school.
Based on 3 ReviewsComputer lab: 6 selectric typewriters hooked by acoustic modems to the time-sharing machine at UMass. Dorms: some were more traditional 3-story concrete monstrosities. Some were clusters of 2-story apartments. The dining hall was small, but efficient. When I got there, the school was less than 5 years old, so the campus was very spread out and there was a part of an apple orchard in the middle of campus.
mostly single dorm rooms. lots of 1970's buildings, but very conducive to group learning.
Pre computer days except mainframes. Everything else was pretty standard. We had a great outdoors program.
What overall letter grade would you give the activities/groups at your school?
Based on 3 ReviewsWe has the second best Ultimate Frisbee team in the world.
