Alumni & Student Reviews

A- Excellent
Career Preparation

What letter grade would you give your school on how well it prepares students for a career in the real world?

3.8 Based on 5 Reviews
  • Alumni
Spanish and Latin American studies, Class of 1972

Internships, field studies, networking opportunities and mentorships

    5 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
    Environmental Stufies, Class of 1999

Profs lavish attention on undergrads, and if the undergrads are talented, the profs connect them with real world contacts. Profs also design coursework that connects grads and undergrads with government, industry and NGOs.

    5 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
    Economics, Class of 1992

I have no idea now. It was over 20 years ago, and I went on to graduate school, not the "real world."

    3 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
English Lit, English, Class of 1997

I haven't a clue. Never used any resources. And as for the question below, UCSC did not issue letter grades when I attended.

    3 Rated January 2016
A- Excellent
Students and Culture

What letter grade would you give the students/culture at your school?

4.2 Based on 5 Reviews
  • Alumni
    Environmental Stufies, Class of 1999

Super intelligent yet unmotivated pot heads. Very philosophical and spoiled.

    2 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
    Economics, Class of 1992

It was a little bit of a throwback to the 60s. It was a very liberal school.

    4 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
English Lit, English, Class of 1997

Intellectual, gender neutral, environmentalist, alternative, elitist, hippie

    5 Rated January 2016
A Excellent
Facilities

What letter grade would you give the facilities at your school.

4.6 Based on 5 Reviews
  • Alumni
    Economics, Class of 1992

For the era (late 80s, early 90s), they were great. New buildings, new technology.

    5 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
English Lit, English, Class of 1997

I can barely remember the buildings and infrastructure. The beautiful forest stole the show.

    5 Rated January 2016
B+ Great
Activities and Groups

What overall letter grade would you give the activities/groups at your school?

3.4 Based on 5 Reviews
  • Alumni
Spanish and Latin American studies, Class of 1972

Many non traditional opportunities - political groups, theatre, organic gardening, hiking and biking

    4 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
    Environmental Stufies, Class of 1999

Smoking pot. UCSC does not have any sports.

    2 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
    Economics, Class of 1992

    I really do not remember.

    3 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
    Legal Studies, Class of 2010

    Lots of camping. No sports.

    5 Rated January 2016
  • Alumni
English Lit, English, Class of 1997

People smoking pot in the quads, I guess! UCSC is pretty much the anti group school!
