What letter grade would you give your school on how well it prepares students for a career in the real world?

International Studies, Class of 2013

UW has smaller class sizes that allows you to actually make a connection with your teachers and network with them. The school I completed my minor in - the College of Agriculture - integrated job ideas and opportunities into every class I took with them. The University has a powerful alumni network as well.

Could be more diverse- but good considering its in WYoming

Laramie is a liberal town in a conservative state, and that brings some surprising diversity to an otherwise not-so-diverse population. I am a liberal Coloradan, and this made it odd in the beginning to negotiate interactions with conservative Wyomingites, but as time went on, I grew to cherish the town of Laramie. It's full of down-to-earth folks who love to have fun and party. Everyone there is welcoming and smiling, and you can find friends whether you are a vegan lesbian hipster or a mormon cattle rancher. Finding people of color may be difficult - black people are largely there only for sports teams, and native americans unfortunately stick to the reservations. There are also very few asians, hispanics, or any ethnic group other than whites.

Facilities
What letter grade would you give the facilities at your school.

Wyoming has money from oil, mining, and gas, and they put it to use for their students! Almost every building or department has computer facilities for students to use aside from the amazing other commons areas like the library, classroom building, and union building. The dorms are slowly being renovated - the newer ones are still pretty bland though. The only thing they really have going in their favor is they have underground tunnels that take you to the dining hall, which is a blessing when it gets -50F with sideways wind outside. Dining options are spread out decently, but if you're in a far away building like near the art museum or music and arts buildings, you're in for a trek to grab a lunch. Classrooms at UW are beautiful. Almost every room has windows, and they try to schedule as many classes as they can in newer buildings even if they wouldn't usually be there (so, spanish classes are held sometimes in the business building, etc. because the business building is brand new).

Popular - attending sporting events

The school really does try - I'll give it that. For being in the middle of nowhere, they pull off some decent concerts and guest speakers. Popular activities are club sports and getting outdoors. Rock climbing, hiking, ski and snowboard, fishing, etc. are all nearby, and even if you're not the out-doorsy type, Laramie is just too beautiful to not explore it!
