Before starring on shows like Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance, Professional Ballroom Dancer Chelsie Hightower was a UVU student. Other UVU grads who made names for themselves in the entertainment industry include Season 8 Bachelorette Winner Jeff Holm and Criminal Minds Actress A. J. Cook. Professional athletes hailing from UVU include former Orlando Magic Basketball Player Ronnie Price, Pittsburgh Pirates Outfielder Mitch Jones, Olympic Gold Medalist Skeleton Racer Noelle Pikus-Pace, Olympic Bobsleigh Bronze Medalist Christopher Fogt, former Arizona Diamondbacks Pitcher Kam Mickolio, Champion Bullrider Wesley Silcox, and Mixed Martial Artist Ramsey Nijem.

Question
What is the campus setting like?
1 Answer
Answered by: Universities.com

If you love a campus with a view, UVU delivers. The main campus is cushioned between the white-capped Wasatch Mountains and vast shimmering Utah Lake. The buildings sport a modern concrete and glass architecture style and are all interconnected. This means you can trek from classrooms to the JK Sushi restaurant to the Gaming Center all without stepping foot outside on cold or rainy days. Walk upstairs from the Gaming Center and you’ll find students getting their fitness on at the spinning studio, indoor running track, rock climbing wall, and workout center in the new Student Life and Wellness Center. Just goes to show that even as a commuter university UVU provides a vibrant on-campus experience. If you don’t live within driving distance of campus, rest assured the residence life department has tons of connections with nearby student housing facilities and will help you find your perfect place to live and learn.

Question
What are the online learning and extension/adult learning opportunities?
1 Answer
Answered by: Universities.com

Non-traditional educational offerings are big at UVU. If you are interested in earning an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree entirely online, consider applying for their programs in science, aviation, business management, and public emergency services management. In addition to taking classes on the main campus you can also take advantage of course offerings hosted at high schools, learning centers and city buildings in the nearby cities of Saratoga Springs, Spanish Fork, Heber City and Santaquin. Are you a working professional who is thinking about going back to school? Through the Weekend College program UVU runs over 100 courses on Friday nights and Saturday mornings. Earning a degree while working on weekdays just got a whole lot easier.

Question
What are the athletic highlights?
1 Answer
Answered by: Universities.com

In the Wolverines’ first year as members of the Western Athletic Conference, the women’s softball team and men’s cross country team both took conference titles. An impressive feat! The men’s soccer team is the only NCAA Division I men’s soccer team in the state, which has attracted student-athletes from institutions across Utah to the university. The UVU wrestling team is one of just 10 wrestling teams that belong to the Big 12 Conference. In 2011 student-athlete Benjamin Kjar became the university’s first ever NCAA All-American wrestler. Since the university also offers golf, baseball, basketball, track & field, and volleyball, you have plenty of opportunities to join the mean Green Wolverines.

Question
What are the school's academic highlights?
1 Answer
Answered by: Universities.com

UVA was founded during World War II as a vocational school. Since its inception, the school has blossomed awarding degrees at the associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s levels in a range of programs. In fact, the university is home to both a state-of-the-art flight school and a professional ballroom dance program, one of the largest in the country. The university’s dance students are as widely recognized as their program—in 2010 they won the first ever Dancing With The Stars College Dance Championship. Faculty members at UVU have celebrated their own unique successes. In 2009 Physics Professor Steve Wasserbaech was one of 12 non-European researchers in the world invited to conduct research on particle acceleration at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland. Also, in 2015 the Department of Biology received a $25,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for the faculty and staff to enhance research, conservation, and student-engaged learning activities at its field station in the Capitol Reef National Park.
