Um, I think there were some career workshops, there were always employers on campus, but I wasn't aware of any partnerships that helped place students in internships or entry-level positions that would lead to long-term jobs or careers.

In the physics department there are very few girls. It's a very diversified school otherwise.

Behavioral Science, Class of 2011

It's pretty diverse for the area it's located in. It's a huge student body because of the vast distance education programs offered. A large number of students are non-traditional students--older, married, working FT jobs while in school. Fun culture, though. Always something fun going on at the campus.

There's a drum line called the Green Man Group, who is a pretty central feature at sporting events and other on-campus events. They even get invited to parades all over the state during the summer. UVU also has the only NCAA men's soccer program in Utah, and soccer is insanely popular here. The team is playing in the NCAA tournament in just its second season in existence.

CURRICULUM FOCUS
Utah Valley University Trades and Careers Program
UDC Contributor

Got what it takes to be an executive chef? UVU’s Culinary Arts Institute serves up a hearty helping of hands-on learning, so you’ll get the real-world experience you need to work at the restaurant of your dreams. As a senior you will work in the student-run Restaurant Forte where you’ll make a different international dish each week. You and your classmates will also prepare a five-course meal for over 600 people at the Culinary Arts Gala Dinner and President’s Scholarship Ball. If you want to set yourself apart from other culinary arts graduates, join the CAI Student Competition Club and show off your skills at regional and national events like the NICCO Cup or Skills USA. In 2014 student Lyn Wells prepared the winning dish in the Young Chef Competition, earning herself $15,000 and a three-month internship at the restaurant of her choice. A solid resume (and wallet) booster for an aspiring chef! Make UVU’s culinary arts program a part of your recipe for success.

Personal Financial Planning, Class of 2015

U My program, in my opinion, is the best program at UVU. Everyday I was in class I learned something that was applicable for my career and also for my life, and there were so many opportunities to get a leg up on the competition. For instance, our professors made numerous connections with different organizations throughout the nation in the financial services industry that opened up opportunities for our students to attend the organizations’ conferences. I was able to go to five conferences that were almost completely paid for through the school and the different entities. I also graduated with five job offers and was able to choose the best fit for me.

Culinary Arts, Class of 2012

U In the UVU culinary program you are immersed in the field of culinary arts. When you learn to bake, you bake a thousand pastries. When you learn to cook, you cook a thousand meals. There’s no other way to learn a hands on career other than repetition and practice and you’ll get that at UVU.

M.A. Human Resources, Class of 2015

U What I liked most about my studying at UVU was the engaged learning projects. I participated in the Human Resource track and had a great teacher, Bernd Kupka, who was amazing at networking and finding real-life projects with actual companies. I was able to put four HR consulting projects on my resume which really impacted my job search and marketability, and I could hit the ground running because I knew how consulting projects worked and felt very comfortable.

What is the campus setting like?
U 1 Answer
U Answer by: Universities.com

If you love a campus with a view, UVU delivers. The main campus is cushioned between the white-capped Wasatch Mountains and vast shimmering Utah Lake. The buildings sport a modern concrete and glass architecture style and are all interconnected. This means you can trek from classrooms to the JK Sushi restaurant to the Gaming Center all without stepping foot outside on cold or rainy days. Walk upstairs from the Gaming Center and you’ll find students getting their fitness on at the spinning studio, indoor running track, rock climbing wall, and workout center in the new Student Life and Wellness Center. Just goes to show that even as a commuter university UVU provides a vibrant on-campus experience. If you don’t live within driving distance of campus, rest assured the residence life department has tons of connections with nearby student housing facilities and will help you find your perfect place to live and learn.

What are the online learning and extension/adult learning opportunities?
U 1 Answer
U Answer by: Universities.com

Non-traditional educational offerings are big at UVU. If you are interested in earning an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree entirely online, consider applying for their programs in science, aviation, business management, and public emergency services management. In addition to taking classes on the main campus you can also take advantage of course offerings hosted at high schools, learning centers and city buildings in the nearby cities of Saratoga Springs, Spanish Fork, Heber City and Santaquin. Are you a working professional who is thinking about going back to school? Through the Weekend College program UVU runs over 100 courses on Friday nights and Saturday mornings. Earning a degree while working on weekdays just got a whole lot easier.

What are the athletic highlights?
U 1 Answer
U Answer by: Universities.com

In the Wolverines’ first year as members of the Western Athletic Conference, the women’s softball team and men’s cross country team both took conference titles. An impressive feat! The men’s soccer team is the only NCAA Division I men’s soccer team in the state, which has attracted student-athletes from institutions across Utah to the university. The UVU wrestling team is one of just 10 wrestling teams that belong to the Big 12 Conference. In 2011 student-athlete Benjamin Kjar became the university’s first ever NCAA All-American wrestler. Since the university also offers golf, baseball, basketball, track & field, and volleyball, you have plenty of opportunities to join the mean Green Wolverines.

What are the school's academic highlights?
U 1 Answer
U Answer by: Universities.com

UVA was founded during World War II as a vocational school. Since its inception, the school has blossomed awarding degrees at the associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s levels in a range of programs. In fact, the university is home to both a state-of-the-art flight school and a professional ballroom dance program, one of the largest in the country. The university’s dance students are as widely recognized as their program—in 2010 they won the first ever Dancing With The Stars College Dance Championship. Faculty members at UVU have celebrated their own unique successes. In 2009 Physics Professor Steve Wasserbaech was one of 12 non-European researchers in the world invited to conduct research on particle acceleration at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland. Also, in 2015 the Department of Biology received a $25,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for the faculty and staff to enhance research, conservation, and student-engaged learning activities at its field station in the Capitol Reef National Park.
