The University of Pittsburgh’s School of Education not only trains great teachers but also gives these instructors maximum support to become knowledgeable administrators, governmental leaders, and educational researchers. The school has five departments: administrative and policy studies, health and physical activity, instruction and learning, learning sciences and policy, and psychology in education. Students have the opportunity to work with the university’s Center for Urban Education, a national leader in research and practice dedicated to improving public schools in Pittsburgh and other regions with diverse student populations. The university also operates the interdisciplinary Center for Motivation in Learning and Education and a K-8 campus laboratory school.
